Downtown Christiansted comes alive with the sound of music each month when Community Music Inc. puts on its Jazz in the Park concerts!
The concerts are held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the last Friday of each month inside the Bandstand on the lawn of Fort Christiansvaern.
The Community Music Music band is lead by renowned, local jazz virtuoso Eddie Russell. Each month, the band is joined by an array of talented local guest artists.
Since its inception in 2013, our Jazz in the Park concerts have evolved into “must-see” and “be-seen” events — drawing well over 300 attendees to the Historic Christiansted Downtown.
On concert nights, the lawn on the waterfront of Fort Christianvern becomes a sea of blankets, chairs, coolers and families enjoying a carefree night of music and fun. And there are always children (and adults) showing off their hula hooping skills to the jazzy beat of music.
With all these people descending upon downtown Christiansted, a number of local restaurants and businesses have noticed a boost in their Friday night traffic. The National Park Service has also been more than cooperative in helping these events happen by keeping their parking lot and facilities open for concert goers to use.
