Community Music Inc. has several projects in development that align with our efforts to promote social harmony and educational enrichment through music. A few of these projects include:
Jazz in the Park – Christiansted
CMI’s premier community event, “Jazz in the Park,” takes place on the last Friday evening of every month at the Christiansted Fort around the gazebo. The event is family friendly and free & open to anyone who wishes to attend. Jazz in the Park has been successfully executed for the last 6 years. We’ve had attendance numbers of over 350 people, and the number of attendees continues to grow. One of the many highlights of “Jazz in the Park” is the guest musicians that headline the event every month. Featured bands and artists have focused on Jazz, Latin and cultural favorites that encourage guests to get out of their seats and dance!
A Fun Day of Music @…
In the fall of 2019, Community Music Inc. will launch its inaugural field trip to the Altona Lagoon on St. Croix with 30 boys and girls from the Sports, Parks and Recreation Department’s summer program. The event will feature old school local musicians teaming with their talented younger counterparts to give interactive presentations on how instruments are used to create various genres of music, such as jazz, salsa, Quelbe, hip hop and more.
It is our hope to capture the imagination of the students and to help set the path for their future musical journey.
